Here is a road trip report from our good friend Robert Zurflah. He recently spent a week in Seattle, WA before returning back to New Jersey for the last leg of the Bunker Hill Summer Series Tournament. Take it away Rob:
Crystal Mountain DGC plays in a ski resort 10 minutes from Mount Rainier National Park. Rooms are reasonable in the summertime, and the "Snorting Elk Lodge" has some excellent food and plenty of beer after a long round of DG. Holes 1-5 are very long Par 3's that criss cross the ski-lifts. Wide open holes with some elevation change. Total course elevation changes are about 1000feet.
Holes 6-9 play through evergreens. Very tight holes (and the lighting was bad....so, no pictures). A couple of holes than can be deuced in the woods.
Above is hole 10. I had a good first drive, but I am still ways away from the basket.

A sign after 11 said "Time to let them fly". This was a very steep, very long downhill hole. Some serious airtime here.
Skipping fast forward to 18. 13,14 were more of downhill long holes. 15, 16, 17 where shorter holes, with 16 being nice dogleg, and 17 being an ace-able hole. The hike, make that climb to 18 was tough. The hole played down to the basket on top of an avalanche mound. I overdrove it, went into the street below. Got a 5.
18's tee is up on the right. It's steeper than it looks in the picture.
(Cubby) Thanks Rob for a great Road Trip Report. Rob's blog is linked on the upper right side of my blog. Or you can click here to get to his blog: http://bunkerhilldiscgolf.blogspot.com
I highly recommend the course. It's a great experience, and at the same time quite a workout. In front of the lodge are 3 baskets set-up for putting practice. If you are out in Seattle, plan to play Crystal Mountain DGC. It took us ~2 hours from Seattle to get there.

I live in Seattle and that Mt. Rainier course looks beautiful. I didn't realize that there was a disc golf course down there. I'm also an editor for a website called HowToDoThings.com and I think it would be really great if you or Rob wanted to write an article about how to play disc golf. You guys are clearly passionate about it and have a lot of valuable insider tips to share with disc golf newbies and experienced players alike. You can reach me at liz.smith@howtodothings.com. I'd love to hear from you and learn more about disc golf!
Cubby, Liz Smith's site looks like it would be right up your alley, they have a Recreation and Sports section. Presumably she would then sell link advertisement to DG companies like Innova & Millenium. Pretty smart idea......(wish I had thought of it ...!!!)
hey now cubby, now is your time to shine again for the disc sport. You have soo much free time anyway.
Rob's disc is found just before you leave the tree line on his left and I'm guessing that the basket is down between the ski lift with ablue flag top?Peace.mr ed,fl
Mr. Ed,
Hole 5...the basket is above the tip of the evergreen three trees to the left of the current disc position (pointy evergreen) in the picture. It was way out there.
Liz, I'll get you in touch with Bob Sismour on Bainbridge Island. He has some time right now and there are good courss colse-by.
