Shout out to Bill in Pennsylvania

Got a nice message from Bill who lives near Tyler State Park Disc Golf Course and I wanted to thank him for his kind words and interest in the Blog. I am hoping to link up with Bill soon and throw some rounds with him at Tyler.

Good Luck Miguel!

Our friend and fellow Disc Golfer Miguel is going in for surgery soon. He tore his rotator cuff in his left shoulder while trying to break his fall down some stairs at home. Miguel not knowing the seriousness of the injury at the time came out the next day to join us at Tyler State park Disc Golf Course for some rounds.

Miguel we all wish you a successful surgery and speedy recovery! Looking forward to our next round after you recover.

Check out Miguel's Blog for more info. I have a link to his blog on the right side of this page.

Congrats to Jason on his 2nd Ace!

I was checking my voice mail today and there was a message from our friend Jason from Dekalb, IL. you may remember that Jason came out from Dekalb with his friend to throw some rounds with Cubby and Big John at Rutgers. (Refer to 10 Jan 2007 Blog Entry) Here is the picture I got tonight from Jason and modified by me.

Jason's 2nd Ace

Here is the text of the E-mail I received from Jason:
"Cubby I got my second ace today... woo wooo. I stuck hole 6 in St. Charles,IL with a discraft flick. Two rounds after hitting the ace, I blew through the chains on the same hole with a skip shot. Today was agreat day of disc golf, I was sinking long putts and hit metal on several drives. I have attached the ace photo. Jason"

Way to go Jason!!!!!!!!!!!!!

An Ace every hour and now every minute too!

It slipped my mind to post this earlier. On 27 March 2007 on my second of three Aces that day, the second Ace was at 4:16 PM. Besides having an Ace every hour of the day, that was the last minute I needed to have an Ace every minute of the hour.

Saturday Night to Sunday Morning

The "Cubby Hole" Disc Golf Target makes it debut in this photo. The target is nicknamed "The Defender". It is a homemade Disc Golf Target designed by Cubby. Don knocked my hat off of my head while the camera self timer was active and you can see I was not ready for the picture.

Saturday night at Rob's House to play his private Bunker Hill Disc Golf Course. Big John and Don were there and we all played till midnight. Rob went to bed and we continued playing until Cubby got his 183th Ace on Hole 3 that won Cubby a match getting him to 10 under first. Don and Cubby were tied at 8 under before Cubby hit the Ace. This was Cubby's 4th Bunker Hill Ace and he remains the only person to Ace at Bunker Hill, although Don had so many nice Ace runs. That was the first Ace on the elusive Red Mach II Target. A chainless Ace.

Other highlights: Big John ends up in the tree house twice off of the tee on Hole 3. Too bad it was not during the daytime. It would have made for some great video watching him putt from up there; Don was awesome from the tee, so many near Aces; Rob had Bunker Hill looking good for the Night Disc Golf.

Cubby's 183rd Ace Photo

In this Ace Photo you will see a picture I took of me and Big John with 4 cool disc Golfers in Delaware. Refer to my Blog entry for 21 March 2007. I got them all to sign one of my Firebirds and told them that my next Ace would be with that Disc. Well it happened as planned and now they are part of my Disc Golf Ace history.

Here is a file photo of Hole 3 at Bunker Hill taken during the daytime with the route I used to get my 183rd Ace at night.

Around 1 AM Cubby and Big John headed to Rutgers Disc Golf Course. We played until 5 AM on Sunday. Big John got his 9th Ace on Hole 9 and Cubby got his 184th Ace on Hole 1 (Skip Ace).

Wednesday in Delaware

It was another great road trip for Cubby and Big John. We headed down to Delaware to spend the day playing Disc Golf. We got in 4 rounds at Bellvue State Park Disc Golf Course. This was a day of Disc Golf improvements. We both made some corrections in our drives that made a difference today. I made a change in my throws that really helped me get some extra distance.

We left the course to get something to eat and headed to White Clay State Park Disc Golf Course. During our second round we met a really nice bunch of Disc Golfers that follow the blog and our YOUTUBE videos. We joined them on hole 3 and had a blast.

Slow motion video of drives on Hole 4 from the group.

After the round I gave each player one of my Disc Golf discs and got them all to sign the back of one of my Firebirds, hopefully the next disc I retire on the course. It was a real treat to meet and play a round of Disc Golf with this spirited bunch of Disc Golfers. Big John and I really enjoyed the experience.

Thanks to Ryan, Tom, Kenny, Big Mike, and Brian for being a part of Cubby's Disc Golf World.

Tuesday at Rutgers

Headed up to Rutgers arriving at 11AM to throw some rounds with Jay. Two inches of snow on the ground and melting so the ground was mushy and slippery. Jay stayed for 2 rounds and I played until 4:30PM and then I headed home to rest up for Wednesday's roadtrip with Big John to Delaware. I got my 182nd Ace on Hole 18.

A new digital camera!

Here is the camera I currently use for my Disc Golf photos and videos: Nikon Coolpix 5600

UPDATE: I previously posted that I purchased a Nikon L11 as a back-up camera. I had to return the L11 due to noise issues with the audio in the Movie mode. I upgraded to the L12. Here is a pic:

Rob, Miguel, Eric, Bret, Drew, and Jay with an awesome Rutgers Ace!

Headed to Tyler State Park Disc Golf Course to meet Rob for some rounds. Miguel joined us before we finished hole 1 during the first round. Note that Rob is pointing to himself with a thumbs down pose. The original picture had him pointing at me. Rob remember I can edit pictures so the jokes on you :)

Rob, Cubby, Eric, Drew, Bret, and Miguel

Rob pulls another fast one (he's getting as bad as Don in the basket photos) and gives Cubby the Mickey Mouse ears during this group photo with Eric, Drew, Bret and Miguel. Bret and Drew are on Spring Break from Saint Louis, MO. Bret is one of Eric's four brothers. It was great that Bret and Drew could join us for some rounds and be a part of the blog. Miguel was a real Tropper coming to the course injured after almost falling down the stairs the night before, he ended up straining his left arm trying to prevent the fall. Now that is dedication! It was fun watching Eric and Bret really rip some long shots. Drew has only been playing for a short period of time and could really throw a nice overhand shot. After 2 rounds of 27 Holes Miguel had to go and the rest of us headed to Rob's private Bunker Hill Disc Golf Course.

Here we are at Bunker Hill Disc Golf Course. We played 3 rounds of 9 holes and then Cubby headed to Rutgers to meet up with Jay for some rounds.

Jay and Cubby got in 2 rounds and Jay hit a very impressive Ace on hole 13, one of the best protected baskets on the course. What a sweet shot!

Thanks to everyone for a great day of Disc Golf!

Monday in the back yard

Since I will be playing Disc Golf on the road on Tuesday and Wednesday, I decided to do some practice putting at home. I really don't practice much at home since I get out often and play lots of Disc Golf on the local courses. I really should make a point of practice putting at home every day. Even if it is only for 5 minutes.

Here is a video of today's putting practice.

Let it snow!

Headed up to Rutgers for a day of Disc Golf in the snow. I arrived at the course at 10AM. Big John and I got in some rounds during the falling snow until Jay arrived to join us.

Cubby got his 178th Ace.

Jay played until he had to leave for class to take a test.

Kyle stopped by the course to play a round.

Big John and Cubby went to the Campus Cafeteria to eat a late lunch.

Cubby got his 179th Ace.

Jay came back to the course after getting an A on his test.

Cubby and Jay had a number of Ace runs today. During one round, Cubby chained out of two baskets and skipped and deflected off of the top rim of a basket. Jay had 3 Ace runs with one shot flying in the basket only to hit the pole at the base of the chains and bouncing right back out of the basket.

Big John had to go and Jay and Cubby got in one last round. A total of 9 rounds on the day for Cubby.

Thanks to Big John, Jay, and Kyle for a fun day of disc golf. Rob also stopped by to say hello on his way home from an interview.

I will post a video of Big John and I playing a round in the snow at a later date.

While the City sleeps (Updated)

Bring it on Old Man Winter!

It is 12:11 Am 3/6/2007. I am leaving my house to play Night Disc Golf at Rutgers Disc Golf course. Current Temp at Rutgers 22 degrees with a wind chill of 9 degrees. Temp will drop to 12 degrees. Winds 20-25 MPH gusts to 40 MPH. I'll fill you in when I get back home. Whenever that is :) I plan to do one of my old style Audio Podcasts and upload it to YOUTUBE. Time to go, Disc Golf awaits me while you all are sleeping. Want to join me, call my cell.

Cubby

UPDATE: Well I played until 6AM. It was COLD!!!!! and WINDY!!!! Wind chill was at 10 below zero. I had 7 layers of clothing on my chest, 4 on my legs, 4 on my head. It was so windy the chains were ringing around the course from the wind. Sounded like others were playing on the course, maybe the spirits of Disc Golf?

I got my 177th Ace at 2:50AM. That Ace was a milestone for me. I now have A Disc Golf Hole In One for every hour of the day, all 24 of them! I would venture to think that I am the first person to ever accomplish that milestone.

Cubby's 24 hours of Aces.
