Wednesday at Rutgers

Headed up to Rutgers Disc Golf Course for a day of Disc Golf. Jay and I started the day with a nice breakfast at the campus cafeteria. Our first round started at 9:30 AM.

Miguel joined us after a couple of rounds and he stayed and played until 2 PM.

Jay and I played some more til Jay had to go. I did some work over the phone and then I headed back out to play. Got my 174th Ace on Hole 14. I ran into Scot Whitman on Hole 1 as I was going to play one last round with one disc. After chatting with Scot for 15 minutes, Kyle showed up and Scot had to leave.

During my first round with Kyle, I crashed the chains on 9 but it did not stay. Later in the round I stepped up to tee off on Hole 14 and I told Kyle that I had Ace'd 14 last round. I threw another sweet shot and got the skip Ace this time, my 175th Ace. During the next round I came out of the basket on 9 and hit pole on 14 and 18. So after two rounds with Kyle we finihed around 6:30 PM. After that I headed home. Thanks to Jay, Miguel, and Kyle for a fun Disc Golf day.

Cubby as Commander Treskot

Cubby in the blue shirt.

Check out Cubby in the role of Commander Treskot in the Children of the Gods Podcast. Chapter 6 was just released. Chapter 1 was an intro to the story and the characters were introduced starting in Chapter 2. The genius for this project is the writer, producer, and main character for this science fiction adventure audio drama, Christopher Mack (Captain Corvel). We have a great cast and I really enjoy working on this project. Check it out! Wing two out!

Saturday at Tyler State Park

Cubby, Big John, EricM and his boys.

Headed up to Tyler State Park for a day of Disc Golf. Big John and I met up with EricM and played Hole 1 with Eric's boys. Afterwards, Big John and I played a round (27 hole layout) in preparation for the day's Disc Golf Tournament, "The One and Done" event. The tournament required each player to use only one disc for the entire round. If that disc was lost or broken then the event for that player was finished. So you had to pick a disc that would work best for drives, approaches and putts.

Cubby and Kevin

Kevin from Disc Golf Monthly asked me to host the first segment of his new Weekly Web Show update so I inteviewed various players during the event. The show should be on the internet in a couple of days after Kevin edits the footage.

Don, Cubby, Big John, Doot, and Maureen

During the 1 round event (27 hole layout) Cubby, Big John, Don, and Doot played together. We had a fun round. Don was one stroke out of the cash in Pro Masters and I won the Advanced Masters. I won a hole CTP (2006 Worlds Video). Big John and I played another round of 27 holes and 9 more holes before the sun went down. I chained out of hole 25 in the later round.

Thanks to all of the good people in the Bucks County Disc Golf Alliance for a great event and a special thanks to the TD, John B for a well run event. It was great to see all of my Disc Golf friends at the event.

Wednesday at Rutgers

Headed up to Rutgers Disc Golf Course to meet up with Big John at 8:00Am for a day of Disc Golf. In the Picture above, Big John looks at his watch indicating I was late 8:20AM. What can I say, rush hour traffic. We played some rounds and Jay joined us for some more rounds.

Kyle joined us for a round, his first round of Disc Golf since 5 january 2007, and he got an Ace on Hole 18. Kyle just returned from an Oceanographic Exploration Mission and he got to descend to a depth in excess of 2,500 Meters in a submersible. Way to go Captain Nemo!

Kyle's Ace Photo

After Kyle left we went to lunch in the Campus Cafeteria.

Jay left around 3PM and Cubby and Big John continued to play until 8:30PM. We got in a total of 13 rounds.

Cubby got a couple of Aces on the day.

Big John was in top form today and Cubby did not win a round against him until after 3PM.

Cubby's last 5 rounds: -13, -10, -10, -12, -13. The last 4 rounds were played with one disc (Kc Pro Cheetah). I was working that cheetah from tee to basket and putted well with the disc.

Big John accused me of being an Alien from another planet after the completion of the one disc rounds. :) Nah, I'm local.

Cubby in the media update

There was no Disc Golf on Tuesday due to me changing my weekday day off to Wednesday. Should have some Disc Golf to report Wednesday night. In other news........

As some of you already knew, I hosted Disc Golf Monthly when it filmed 2007 New year's Day in Philadelphia. For those folks in New Jersey and Pennslvania that can access the show from Comcast Cable, the episode was recently released as the March episode. Check it out! Kevin the producer and Cameraman did a nice job on the show and filmed me taking the customary picture by the basket and plugging the Blog. You can check out the Disc Golf Monthly website at: http://home.comcast.net/~DGMtv/wsb/

Also check out http://www.tvjersey.com The video of Cubby and Jay playing Night Disc Golf is featured on that website for 2/20/2007.

The "Cubby Hole" update

Had some time to work on the "Cubby Hole" Disc Golf Target that I am making for Rob's private Bunker Hill Disc Golf Course. Thought I would post some pictures as the target is starting to come together. I have some finishing work to do and cut and rehang the chains.

Sunday at Rutgers

Headed up to Rutgers to meet Big John for some Disc Golf. We had a hearty breakfast at the campus cafeteria and then Big John got a call from home that required him to leave so no Disc Golf for Big John today.

Mr. Tips drove up as Big John was leaving and Tippy and I played a round. Mr.Tips played well handing Cubby the loss.

With Big John out and Eric done after one round and no one posting about playing today I was going to leave the course and head home due to the cold and icy conditions on the course.

Luckily Vinnie and Sean showed up and Jay as well so we played lots of rounds together.

Don showed up and joined in the fun. After Vinnie and Sean headed home, we played some until Jay left. Don and I played until the sun went down.

It was a fun day. Cubby went down on Hole 18 tee due to the slick ice coating on the snow, no injuries to report.

There were some up and down rounds on a very windy and cold day. The course was covered in snow and ice making the discs slide well past the landing spots. There were a number of 3 and 4 putts we would all like to forget.

My worst round on the day was a 5 over and best was a 12 under on my last round.

Don brought me some cash from skins we have played this year. He decided to pay me in rolled coin pictured below. That should be enough to get me 5 new Firebirds. :)

Thanks to all my friends for a fun day of Disc Golf!

Saturday Slip sliding away

Worked a half day then attended a trade show in Edison, NJ. Afterwards I headed to Rutgers for some Disc Golf. The course was icy. I did a Charlie Brown slip and fall on my backside routine. Fortunatey I landed on a flat portion of the course, not on any of the roots so no injuries to report. I did however get my 171st Ace on hole 9.

Night Disc Golf.....Cubby vs. Jay

Here is a 3 part video of a round of Night Disc Golf I played against Jay at the Rutgers Disc Golf Course in New Brunswick, NJ on 10 Feb 2007. I used the Sony Video Camera with the "Night Shot" mode. It was cold and windy, my first day of Disc Golfing after returning from 11 days of vacation in Puerto Rico. Thanks Jay for a fun and competitive round!

Cold, Windy, and Icy.

Headed up to Manalapan Disc Golf Course after work to get in some Disc Golf before heading up to Rutgers for some Night Disc Golf. The conditions were unplayable at Manalapan due to snow covered by ice on the course, footing was a challenge as well as keeping the disc from sliding all over the place after it landed on the ground after each shot. I was not on the course long before they closed the park early due to safety. I decided not to go to Rutgers as the conditions up there were probably the same.

Thanks Eric E. from Seattle Washington

I just wanted to thank Eric E. from Seattle Washington for the cool picture disc he sent to me for my birthday. The disc is a Discraft Buzz of the 2006 Lakewood Open. Eric has been around since I first started puting Disc Golf content on the internet when I started with with my Cubby's Disc Golf World Audio Podcast back in 2005. After losing my podcast hosting service I switched over to this blog and Eric continues to check out the content. I am hoping to get out to Seattle some day to throw some rounds with Eric. Another roadtrip for me and Big John to add to our list :)

Tuesday Disc Golf at Manalapan and Rutgers

Cubby and Big John headed to Manalapan Recreation Center Disc Golf Course to get in some rounds before heading up to Rutgers to play some more Disc Golf. We got in 3 rounds, after playing the regular 9 hole layout we played the course backwards to get in a full round of 18. Big John got his 7th Disc Golf Ace on Hole 6 at Manalapan. It was a sweet shot!

After the morning rush hour was over we left Manalapan and headed to Rutgers Disc Golf Course. We got in 7 rounds. It was a cold day and it snowed off and on throughout the day.

Disc Golf in the Comics

Rob posted on the CDGW Yahoo Message Board that Disc Golf had made the Sunday Comics. Coincidently it was published on 1/28/2007, the same day I got my 170th Ace. Here is the Comic below.

Little did Rob know, Cubby made a brief appearance to the Broom Hilda Disc Golf Course to show off his equipment.

Vacation time is sweet!

Quick update from the Internet Cafe. Temperature in the mid 80's, swimming every day. Putting on the Beach. You got snow and I got sunshine.
