Saturday Night and Sunday Morning Disc Golf at Rutgers

Headed up to Rutgers after work on Saturday Night for some Disc Golf in the rain and fog. It is nice having Gortex socks to keep my feet dry. I got my 323rd Ace Saturday Night and my 324th Ace Sunday Morning.
I texted the locals to see who could play. Some of my Disc Golf friends are turning into hall of fame couch potatoes, but I'm not naming names. It was nice of Chris to come by the course and say hello even though he could not play as he is running a half marathon on Sunday.

Thursday Disc Golf at Manalapan

Headed up to Manalapan Recreation Center Disc Golf Course after work on Thursday.

After the first 9 holes I encountered Rita, she seemed to be interested in Disc Golf so I asked her to play 9 holes. She was at the park while her son was on one of the football fields for football team practice. It was her first time playing Disc Golf. I gave her a disc for future Disc Golf use. It is always cool introducing someone to Disc Golf.

Tuesday Disc Golf at Riverview, Iron Hill, White Clay, Bellvue, and Lums Pond

Met up with Karl at 5AM on Tuesday for breakfast and then we headed out for a day of Disc Golf. Here we are at Hole 1's basket at the start of our round at the Riverview Disc Golf Course in New Jersey near the Delaware Memorial Bridge. This course is a 9 Hole course with 18 Tees. There is plenty of room for 9 more holes and some of the challenging features of this park are under utilized in the course design.

Here with are at Hole 18's basket after finishing our round at the Iron Hill Disc Golf Course in Delaware. This is a new and very challenging course. Very long, narrow, and wooded. I threw a 78 on this 18 hole course. The cement Tee pads were outstanding and the course has multiple basket positions. You would have to be a gluten for punishment to play this course all the time but those that advocate Pro par 4 and 5 holes and long distance holes will love this course.

Here we are at Hole 18's basket after our round at White Clay Disc Golf Course in Delaware. A nice course with lots of terrain changes and well defined fairways. Got to love those Chainstar baskets too. I had to edit Karl in to the picture as he was not available for the photo.

Here we are at Hole 18's basket after our round at Bellvue Disc Golf Course in Delaware. I really enjoy this course. It has the old Mach I baskets most with added inner chains and the course has the feel of a ball golf course with it's well defined fairways. This photo was taken from my tripod mounted to a tree.

Here we are at one of the practice baskets after our round at the Lums Pond Disc Golf Course. This is a nicely wooded course with a challenging layout. This course also has Chainstar baskets.

We had to head back to Bellvue to pick up my Camera Tripod that I left attached to a tree for the photo we took at the 18th Basket. Luckily it was still there.

It was a fun day of Disc Golf and this was the first time Karl had played all five of these Disc Golf Courses and my first time at Iron Hill.

Monday Night Disc Golf at Rutgers

Headed up to Rutgers after work on Monday for some Night Disc Golf with Chris. We played 5 rounds, Chris taking the first round. No aces to report. My Monster came out of the basket on the drive on hole 12 and I skipped and hit the basket on Hole 3.

We finished around 11PM and I checked my phone messages and found one from Karl. I called him and we will be on the road Tuesday to play Iron Hill Disc Golf Course in Delaware and other courses in the area and maybe a stop in Philadelphia to play Sedgley Woods.

Tuesday Disc Golf at Fields of Dreams, F.E. Walter Dam, Hickory Run, and Rutgers

Headed up to New Jersey's newest Disc Golf Course, the 9 Hole Fields of Dreams Disc Golf Course in Great Meadow, New Jersey. I strted my first round at 7:30AM. I really enjoyed playing this course and my hats off to the course designer(s) and everyone that worked hard to carve this course out of a heavily wooded lower elevation section of the park. There are two tees per hole and plans to expand the course to 18 holes over the winter. The course officially opens on 20 September. The course website is fodcourse.com.

After playing FOD, I headed to Pennsylvania to play the F.E. Walter Dam Disc Golf Course.

Here is an interesting Basket location.

After playing F.E., I headed over to Hickory Run Disc Golf Course located 5 miles away.

Wake up Chris!

After playing H.R., I drove back 2 hours to New Jersey and met up with Chris for 3 rounds of Night Disc Golf at Rutgers. Chris ran 10 miles prior to coming to the course and played some great rounds. We finished up at 11PM. It was great to play 3 courses for the first time but a blast to play some fun rounds back home with Chris.

Where's Cubby? I forgot my putter for the customary basket picture above and Chris is solo by the basket waiting for me to run back from the car.

Putting Confidence Program

It's not often that I will link other videos or Disc Golf content in my Blog unless it is Cubby related, since my blog is all about following my Disc Golf adventures, but I thought I would share an outstanding video by Mark Ellis made by Discraft and Flying Disc Magazine. Those that have played lots of Disc Golf with me know that I am a big advocate of confidence when it comes to putting so check out this outstanding video and the great way Mark puts it all together in a program that will work for you.

After my rounds at Riverview, I headed to Rutgers for the weekly doubles. Here is the crew that showed up for doubles at Rutgers.

After doubles I got in some Night Disc Golf and headed home at 9:00PM.

Monday Night / Tuesday Morning Disc Golf at Rutgers

Headed up to Rutgers after work on Monday for some rounds of Disc Golf with Karl. I had a nice skip shot chain out of hole 13, a tough basket to Ace. After Disc Golf I went over to Karl's house and I picked up some new discs. I went back to Rutgers for some more Disc Golf as it was a really nice night for Disc Golf finishing at 4:30AM on Tuesday morning.

Karl had a close call on Hole 1 hitting his head on a low branch near the basket, cutting his scalp, but fortunately it was not deep and did not bleed that much.

Saturday Night / Sunday Morning Disc Golf at Rutgers

With the storm (former hurricane Hannah) rolling through the area today with heavy winds and rains I headed up to Rutgers after work with Big John for some rounds of Disc Golf in the extreme weather conditions. It was too wet to take my camera out so we took this photo with the camera inside of the car.

After the third round the rain stopped long enough for me to take the traditional photo of us at Hole 15's basket. As you can see we are soaking wet.

I dropped Big John off at his house and came back to Rutgers for more Disc Golf. I got my 322nd Ace.

Cubby's 322nd Ace Photo.

It was great to Disc Golf with Big John again, it had been a long time. Looking forward to our next time out on the course.

Wednesday Disc Golf at Alexandria Town Park and Tinicum Park

Headed up later in the day on Wednesday to throw a round of Disc Golf with Matt LaCourte at the course he designed in Alexandria Town Park just down the road from where he lives. Matt took the round beating Cubby by 7 shots and Matt was one stroke off his own course record of 10 under. The courses has 9 holes and two tees per hole. Matt recently got the go ahead to put in 9 more holes. It's worth the trip to play Matt's home course.

After Disc Golf with Matt, I headed over to Pennsylvania for some Disc Golf at Tinicum Park.

As I was driving down the road in Pennsylvania along the Delaware River, I encountered this beautiful Deer. I stopped for a minute as we stared at each other for awhile then we parted our seperate ways.

Sorry I could not make it to Rutgers in the morning, I missed the chance to throw some rounds with Andrew, a new player. Next time my friend!
