111 Aces in 2006!

Headed up to Manalapan Recreation Center Disc Golf Course after lunch for some Disc Golf on the last day of the year. It was a very pleasant December day.

Here I am with Andre and Pierre visiting from out of state.

After the Park closed I got something to eat for Dinner then headed to Rutgers Disc Golf Course for some more Disc Golf.

I got my 163rd Ace on Hole 1 at 6:54 PM. It was my 111th Ace of 2006. What a great year 2006 has been. Life is good, really good! I am looking forward to the New Year. Could it ever be as special as 2006? I hope everyone out there has a great 2007!!!!! Thanks to all my loyal blog readers. I hope the blog helps to brighten your day. Warm regards to all, Cubby.

CDGW Hall of Fame Honors

Big John has been inducted into the Cubby's Disc Golf World Hall of Fame. Big John has been the greatest supporter of Cubby's Disc Golf adventures. He is the most traveled with Cubby, most rounds with Cubby, most Aces witnessed with Cubby, helped me play through my 24 hour Disc Golf Marathon in a storm, most inspiring with his great attitude and love for Disc Golf. It is with great pride and honor that I induct Big John as the first member of Cubby's Disc Golf World Hall of Fame. Congrats Big John and thanks for all you do for my game. You have set the bar to the highest level for this honor.

Friday Disc Golf at Rutgers

Headed up to Rutgers Disc Golf Course to meet up with Big John and his daughter Allison for a noon tee time. This was her first time playing Disc Golf. She really played well, and contributed greatly when she joined her Dad in doubles against Cubby beating him by a stroke -10 to -9. Hmmmmm.... She also beat Cubby on the Fusball table 10 to 9 on Christmas Eve at Big John's house. I was hoping to show her an Ace on the course but the best I could do was skip and hit one basket and hit another basket off the rim.

Here is Allison on the course.

Allison with Dad looking on.

Big John putts through a narrow gap.

Big John and I stayed and played some Night Disc Golf until 8 PM. Big John was sinking some long putts. As much as I have been playing lately, I was hobbling around the course like a 90 year old man, but still managed to throw a -12 on my last round.

Thanks to Big John and Allison for a fun time on the Disc Golf Course!

Thursday at Vineland and Manalapan

Cubby and Big John on the road at Landis Park Disc Golf Course in Vineland, New Jersey on a nice December Day.

Here is a video of Cubby and Big John playing a Match Play round of Disc Golf at Vineland.

Big John had to head home at 3 PM and I headed over to Manalapan Recreation Center Disc Golf Course to play some more Disc Golf until 9 PM.

Tuesday at Tinicum

Headed up to Tinicum Park Disc Golf Course in Pennsylvania to meet up with a group of Disc Golfers for a day on the course. Here I am first to arrive on the course.

First round played with Bob Z and Rob Z and Eric S. (Cubby and Eric tie)

Second round played with Bob Z, Jeff L, Adam Z, Rob, Z, Brian G, and Eric S (Eric wins the round with Jeff in second)

Rob played 1 1/2 rounds before heading out. Two rounds for Eric. 3 rounds for Cubby and Bob Z. 2 rounds for Jeff L, Brian G, and Adam Z. (Cubby edges out Jeff on the last hole of round 3) Jeff said: "I did not think Cubby was going to make that last Putt."

(Cubby) Repeat after me: Magic Putter :)

Here is a video of slow motion drives for Adam Z, Bob Z, Jeff L, and Brian G.

We headed to Frenchtown for pizza after DG, thanks for the pizza Jeff!

It was a great day for Disc Golf with Global Warming in full effect (Let the next generation worry about it). Great to see old friends and make new ones today. It was a blast. Thanks to everyone that made it out to play.

After my work party I headed up to Rutgers Disc Golf Course for some Night Disc Golf with Big John. We had lots of great rounds. Big John just missed an Ace when he chained out and I hit a couple of baskets on some near Ace runs. The rounds were competitive often coming down to the last shot on the last hole. I hit some long putts with the Magic Disc.

Big John, Having regrets on returning my putter to me?
Thanks a million dueces :)

Around 11:30 PM, we were both out of gas and limping around the course so we called it a day.

I stayed another 15 minutes to search for my Orc that was buried under the leaves on hole 15. Found it!!

Tuesday Disc Golf on the Road

Headed over to Tyler State park Disc Golf Course in Pennsylvania. Don joined me on the course and we played three rounds of 27 holes. Lots of long holes and lots of trees, I hit my fair share of them.

Don trying to take away the Magic Disc before round 1

Stephen joins us for round 2.

Eric R. joins us for round 3.

Can you guess who is trailing by 9 strokes going into the 27th hole of the second round?

Don took the first round and Cubby took the second and we tied the third round. Who says I only play short courses?

It was a fun day!

Cubby selected as Time Magazine Person of the Year

Time Magazine recently selected me as their Person of the Year. By the way, they selected everyone that creates or uses content on the World Wide Web. So congratulations to you, if you are reading this post, you are also Time Magazines Person of the Year! Glad you could join me in this honor. This is the second time I have received this honor, the first time was in 1966.

Here is a link to the story:

Well here is a modified Time Magazine Cover to honor me.

How sweet it is!

Cubby, Don (Not looking so normal), Rob

Headed up to Rob's Bunker Hill Disc Golf Course on Saturday to join him for some Disc Golf on his birthday (His B-day is on the 17th but he was free to play on the 16th). Don joined us as well and we played 5 rounds of 9 holes until I had to bail out to head home to go to a company X-mas party. I bested the course record I had previously set by one stroke and having my old putter again was sweet. I was hitting all my putts and raking in the dough :) Here are some pics from the day at Bunker Hill.

Cubby putting from the walk of shame. It was a nice putt!

Don getting familiar with the course for the first time.

Rob on the approach shot.

Don joins Cubby as the only ones to 3 the longest hole (710 feet) on the course. Who said I have a spaghetti arm? Thanks Rob and Don for a great day on the course and Laura for the great hospitality. Happy Birthday Rob!

The Magic Disc is returned!

Headed up to Rutgers after work on Friday to play some Disc Golf with Big John. We played 4 rounds. Big John took the first round -6 to -5. I scored well the last three rounds all in double digits but my putting was off.

In a twist of fate Big John wrote on my old putter the following statement:

To whom it may concern: I hereby return this putter to Cubby 12/15/2006 Big John.

I warned Big John that giving me that putter back would cost him strokes in the future but he insisted that I take the putter back. Here are some pictures of me getting the putter back.

The transfer ceremony.....Having second thoughts Big John?

Cubby, very happy to have his old putter back! Seems Big John just got tired of seeing me miss putts with my replacement putter that I never missed with the magic disc and he wanted to see me and my old putter reunited.

It has always been my policy not to use a disc again after I Ace with it. Nothing in the policy prevents me from using a disc someone else Ace'd with ;) Ahhhhhh! An exception to every rule, works for me. Big John, I think you are going to regret giving me that putter back. Stay tuned!

Tuesday Disc Golf: A Night Vision Ace

A solo Disc Golf day for Cubby. Headed up in the afternoon to Manalapan Recreation Center Disc Golf Course. Played until darkness. I just missed some video of two Deer jumping the fence onto the course. They came onto the course just behind the camera.

Played Night Disc Golf at Rutgers. I brought my Video Camera that has the "Night Shot" mode. It did a good job catching my 156th Ace. My Nikon Digital Camera just can't handle the dark.

Sunday Disc Golf: Cubby gets two Aces

Headed up to Rutgers Disc Golf Course to meet up with Big John. We were supposed to meet at 6 AM, however I slept through the alarm and I arrived 30 minutes late. Big John checks out his watch to drive the point home.

On the 5th Hole of play of our first round Cubby got his 154th Ace. Guess I was right on time after all.

Cubby's 154th Ace Photo

We got some breakfast at the Campus Cafeteria and played more Disc Golf. We saw Hope on the course and she joined us for more Disc Golf fun.

I got a call from Don while we were playing and he said he was on his way to the course. He arrived less than an hour later. Here we are: Don, Cubby, Big John, and Hope.

Hope had to head home around 2:40 and we continued playing. Cubby got his 155th Ace on Hole 8, A nice skip Ace. Cubby's last words before taking the drive: "Don are we still playing 5 bucks for an Ace?"

Big John had to leave once it got dark, Don and I played another round. Here we are at the end of a long day at the back end of my car.
