Halloween in July at the Boardwalk and a visit from Don and family

A wicked Witch holding a 4 time JK Aviar Putter.

Although this post does not concern Disc Golf on the course, it is Disc Golf related as all of my staff dressed up for Halloween in July at the Boardwalk and I was holding a putter in the picture. You can also see the witch above holding the putter. Do I know how to decorate or what? My good friend Don and his family came down to visit me at work. They spent the day at the shore taking in the Beach, Aquarium and Rides.

After work tonight we have 7 people signed up to come out with me to play some Night Disc Golf at Rutgers. I hope we are on the course between 2 and 3 AM.

Congrats to Dakota H. on getting 2 Disc Golf Aces in 2 days after only playing for 2 years

I got an E-mail from my friend Dakota H., He got his first and second Aces. The first one was a backhand throw 288 feet on 7/26/2007 and his second Ace was today, 7/27/2007, a forehand shot at 228 feet. Way to go Dakota!!! Thanks for sharing your achievement. Not many people can say they got their first and second Aces on consecutive days, plus one backhand and one forehand very impressive after only playing for 2 years. Stay with it Dakota, play often.

Friday Morning Disc Golf at Rutgers with Marcin, Przemek, Sergii, lots of Skunks, the Police, a near traffic fatality, an Ace, and a missing wallet.

Segii (Ukraine), Cubby (USA), Przemek (Poland), and Marcin (Poland)

After a long day at work on the Boardwalk as we were closing I asked who wanted to go play some Disc Golf and 3 of my European University students that have never played before said they were game so off we went to Rutgers, but before we even got out of town a drunk that was not paying attention crossed the road right in front of me and was either trying to intentionally get run over or was so out of it he did not even realize my car was there. Well as the good old Cubby luck would have it, I managed to miss him having very little reaction time and using the same instinct that gets my discs to the chains. Had I not managed to manuver away from him at the last millisecond I am sure he would have been killed. After swerving and skidding to a stop I rolled down my window and shouted out some expletive deleteds. The idiot made it across the street oblivious to what had just happened.

We got to the course before 3AM and during the first round we were stopped and question by the Rutgers Police. After the Officer realized that I was just a wacky Disc Golf that likes to play any hour of the day we were back to playing.

I had a nice drive on Hole 12 crashing the chains but the disc did not stay in the basket.

We saw a Mother Skunk with 3 baby Skunks and took some pictures.

What did the Mother Skunk say to the Disc Golfers? Come any closer and I will shoot!

During the next round I got the Ace on Hole 18. It was nice to hit an Ace in front of a group of first time Disc Golfers. I shot well considering I was trying to teach while playing. I shot 11 under during round 1 and and 14 under during round 2.

I had everyone sign the back of my Ace disc so I thought until I got home and realized I had them sign the back of the Star Firebird I used to replace the Champion Firebird that got the Ace.

Wrong Disc Signed by Ace witnesses :) Whooops!

We saw this squirel either sleeping or dead.

Here are some pics of tee shots on Hole 2.

Marcin

Przemek

Sergii

After we finished playing Sergii declared he lost his wallet on the course. Luckily we found it after searching Hole 8 and 9.

During the first round Marcin won against his fellow students and during the second round Przemek won.

Everyone had a good time and they can't wait to play again.

Now it's off to bed as I have to work today/tonight. Planning on another trip to Rutgers with a bigger crowd early Saturday morning after work tonight.

Tuesday Disc Golf at Manalapan and a "stuck in the side of the basket" Ace

Had to switch my day off this week from Wednesday to Tuesday. I headed up to Manalapan Disc Golf Course to play some rounds while waiting for my Mother-In-Law to get out of the hospital. I got my 216th Ace. My first Ace with the disc being wedged in the side of the basket.

Here is a picture of the Ace Disc wedged in the side of the basket.

For those unfamiliar with the Rules of Disc Golf. PDGA Rule 803.13 B. applies to a disc wedged in the side of the basket and reads as follows:

B. Disc Entrapment Devices: In order to hole out, the thrower must release the disc and it must come to rest supported by the chains or within one of the entrapment sections. This includes a disc wedged into or hanging from the lower entrapment section but excludes a disc resting on top of, or hanging outside of, the upper entrapment section. The disc must also remain within the chains or entrapment sections until removed.

After I got home I received a phone call from Rob Z. He informed me that Eric S. got his first Ace today on Hole 8 at Rutgers. Way to go Eric the lefty!

Saturday Disc Golf at Rutgers

Headed up to Rutgers after work arriving at the course at 3:30AM. Joining me for their first time playing Disc Golf were three European University students that are working in the USA for the Summer at the Boardwalk in Point Pleasant. Pictured are Barbara (Slovenia), Cubby (USA), Vanja (Slovenia), and Lea (Croatia). Barbara edged out Vanja and Lea by one stroke for the win.

Wednesday Disc Golf at Rutgers, Rutgers (again), DeBunker Hill, Green Acres, and Manalapan

Headed up to Rutgers for some Disc Golf after work. Started at Midnight and I played until 4AM. Went back home to sleep. Got some pictures of a baby skunk and a baby Opossum.

Another picture of the baby Opossum.

Got a call while I was sleeping from Big John, sounded like he wanted to play if it was going to rain. Big John did not make it out today. Got another call while I was sleeping from Miguel. We decided to meet at Rutgers in the afternoon for some rounds.

Cubby and Miguel at Rutgers.

Looks like a bird of prey got to this baby skunk.

After playing at Rutgers we headed to DeBunker Hill for more Disc Golf.

After playing Debunker Hill we headed to Tim's house to play his private Green Acres course.

An ugly Frog relaxing at Tim's Goldfish pond. (Good luck turning this one into a prince)

The last Disc Golf stop of the day was Cubby at Manalapan where I got my 215th Ace.

Disc Golf on the Beach!

While working today at the Boardwalk on the Jersey shore I was pleased to see Native Eyewear doing a promotion on the beach. They had an Instep Disc Golf Basket set up on the beach and they gave you 7 Discs to throw at the basket 50 feet away. The object was to get one disc in the basket to win a Teeshirt and two in to win a pair of Sunglasses. It was very windy on the beach with a tricky tailwind. I got in line three times. I won a Teeshirt and two pairs of Sunglasses. Thanks to my daughter Jessica for taking some video of the event. I gave her the Teeshirt and one pair of Sunglasses. It was cool to see a company using Disc Golf in a promotion for their product.

Here is a link to their products: http://www.nativeyewear.com/home.php

Friday Early Morning Disc Golf at Rutgers

Headed up to Rutgers after work to meet Karl for some rounds of Disc Golf. We started at 3AM. Karl got an Ace on Hole 9 of the first round. We played 6 rounds before heading to breakfast and then I went home to get some sleeping before heading to work.

Karl's Ace on Hole 9 Photo.

Around 3:50AM we got stopped by the Rutgers Police. 3 squad cars showed up to question what we were doing at that early hour. Seems perfectly normal for me to be out playing in the dark any hour of the day but I can understand how it might look to someone not into Disc Golf Cubby style. After 20 minutes of checking out our story and licenses we were back to Disc Golf. We salute the fine men and women who protect and serve in our communities and appreciate all they do to keep us safe.

Wednesday Disc Golf at Manalapan and Bunker Hill.

Got a late start today as I had to go in to work to resolve an emergency situation. After work I headed to Manalapan Rec. Center Disc Golf Course.

Miguel arrived at the course and we threw some rounds until the Siren sounded for lighting in the area.

A Rabbit at Manalapan.

I drove through heavy rain heading to Rob's Bunker Hill Disc Golf Course for the second leg of his summer series event. The rain was intense but cleared up 15 minutes after I arrived at Bunker Hill.

Max, Cubby, Eric, Rob, and Don.

Some of us played until 11PM. Thanks to everyone for a nice Disc Golf day and Rob for the Burgers.

Sleep is highly over rated. Another late night of Disc Golf at Rutgers.

Headed up to Rutgers again after work. Got to the course just after midnight. The baby skunks were out again and I got my 214th Ace.
