Some Cubby Disc Golf Memorabilia

Now that we have moved in with Dad, I no longer have a room to hang all my discs on the wall like I had in the last house, but I do have the downstairs family room to put all my Disc Golf and other memorabilia out to display. Off to a slow start putting everything out but I thought I would post some pictures below.

Cubby's Ace Case

Cubby's first Ace Disc and the Tee Sign from Hole 13 at Newport News Park. I also got my 13th Ace on this hole on a visit to VA after moving to NJ. I was lucky that my friend Keith saved all of the old Tee Signs when they were replaced with new ones. By the way, it was 10 years ago today that I got my fist Ace. Thanks to Brad from Texas for pointing that out.

A poster from my first Worlds. I finished 28th in Advanced Masters. My best year was my last Worlds in 2003 where I finished 13th in Advanced Masters. A fond memory was finishing 3rd in Am Worlds Doubles with Brian Frederick in Nashville in 2001.

Wednesday Disc Golf at Rutgers

Headed up to Rutgers for some Disc Golf after visiting one of my vendors in the area before heading back to work. I got my 290th Ace, a nice Skip Ace.

Wednesday and Thursday Disc Golf at Rutgers

Headed up to Rutgers Disc Golf Course after work on Wednesday for some Disc Golf. I arrived at the course at 7PM. After a couple of hours of playing I was tired and decided I would play two more holes and call it a night. The last two holes were 14 and 15 with hole 15 finishing by my parked car. I got my 289th Ace on hole 14 and after hole 15 I was walking to my car to leave and I heard someone call my name out. It was Don just arriving on the course and ready to play.

A tired Cubby and Don off for more Disc Golf.

Don played well taking me on 2 stroke play rounds and I beat him in a match play round. After 3 rounds we finished and headed to the car to leave and more people showed up. Chris, Dennis, and Spook Handy. So off we went for more Disc Golf.

A very tired Cubby, Dennis Don, Chris, and Spook.

Spook is a musician. Check him out at spookhandy.com

Spook and Don called it a night after the first round. Don shot the best round of the night with an 11 under. Cubby, Dennis and Chris conitued on until 2:30AM on Thursday. An exhausted Cubby headed home sore but feeling great after playing lots of Disc Golf with friends.

I crashed chains 4 times today on my drives but nothing stayed in the basket.

Big John has beat me the last 3 of 4 rounds that we played at Rutgers. The 4th round I managed a tie. Nice shooting HOF1.

Cubby does some co-hosting work for Disc Golf Monthly and plays at Bunker Hill

Headed to Pennsylvania to co-host the next edtion of Disc Golf Monthly. It was a fun experience and in hind sight I should have set up my camera to record video of all our bloopers. Once we got warmed up everything flowed smoothly. My co-host was Joe Mela, the 2001 PDGA Open Masters Disc Golf World Champion.

Kevin McGorry, the producer of Disc Golf Monthly at the controls preparing for our studio work.

Joe Mela and Cubby on stage after we completed our studio work.

Thanks Kevin for the chance to work with Disc Golf Monthly again and Joe Mela for a great time behind the Microphone.

This production should be released in May on Comcast "On Demand" and on YOUTUBE. I will post video on the blog when the show is released.

After taping the show I still had some daylight left and called Rob. We decided to meet at his Bunker Hill Disc Golf Course. I arrived at the course first and get in some rounds. I am standing next to Rob's Disc Golf Target creation. "The Gallows" The chain rack hangs from a tree and the basket is built on a wood pile.

Rob joins me on the course for more Disc Golf.

Cubby makes one of a number of long putts on the course today.

Rob putting at the Red Mach V.

After Disc Golf we headed into Rob's house and played a really cool board game. I headed home and felt terrible, I think I am getting sick all over again. Bummer!!!

My Grandmother Romona Vales passed away on 6 April 2008. She was 94. First Mom in January then her Mom in April. Two special ladies that made me the kind hearted person that I am. Rest in peace Grandma.
